1. Start with the job, not the item
Write down what you actually need to get done: move a two-bedroom apartment, shoot a wedding, dig a trench. The right rental follows from the job, and it keeps you from paying for capacity you'll never use.
Then filter the catalog by category and search by keyword or city on the home page.
2. Compare on total cost, not headline price
A cheap daily rate can hide delivery fees, fuel, cleaning, or a deposit. Add pickup and return time to your estimate too — two hours of driving is a real cost.

3. Message the owner before you book
Ask three questions: is it available on your exact dates, what condition is it in, and what happens if you're late returning it. Clear answers up front prevent almost every dispute.
4. Inspect at pickup

5. Return clean, on time, and reviewed
Return in the condition you received it, refuel or recharge if the listing asks for it, and leave an honest review. Reviews are what keep the catalog trustworthy for the next renter.
